We moved to Mongu in July 2026. The house we moved into is old and in need of some minor maintenance.
The property is owned by the Evangelical Church of Zambia which is the key partner church that SIM-Zambia works with. SIM has been renting this property from ECZ for many years now and quite a few different SIM families have lived in this house over the years.
The property is on a northwest-facing hill. The access gate is on the Southeast boundary on President Avenue (Lyambai Road). It is a very steep driveway going down into the gate which thankfully has an electric motor to open it.

The front boundary wall (‘wall-fence’) was recently erected in April 2026. However, the remaining side walls (2x 80m) and back wall (40m) are still not built. Funding is required for this project. The rest of the fencing is old diamond mesh fencing (1.5m) with ‘mataka’ (grass reeds) attached to create a visual barier. These fences are in a state of disrepair and increase the security risk.

In the picture above, the ministry office is to the right, the main house is behind the tree, and the guesthouse is down towards the left.

The property is 40m wide by 80m on which there are 3 structures.
The main house
As you enter the property, the main house is directly in front of you. It, like the other 2 structures, has an asbestos roof. The main house has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom/toilet, a lounge/dining room, and a kitchen with a small pantry cupboard.

The ministry office
In the top Southeastern corner is what we are calling the ministry office. It has been used as grounds-staff housing in the past. However, we want to use it a office space for ministry and for meetings and trainings.
