The guesthouse is all the way down on the bottom end of the property. It has a lovely view of the floodplains and is a cosy 2-bedroom cottage with a bathroom/toilet, a lounge, and a kitchen.
Priority needs for the guesthouse
- Security bars for the windows.
- Ceiling maintenance.
- Cupboard doors for the bedrooms.
- Cracks in the walls need fixing.
- Rotten tree leaning towards the guesthouse.
Views around the house
The ceilings need some attention
The ceiling boards themselves seem to be in an okay condition. The problem is the strips of wood that keep the bugs out are all falling off. Also, there are no cornices which allows spiders and bat poop to fall between the ceiling and the wall.
Bedroom cupboard doors
There are no doors on the bedroom cupboards. Though this is not crucial, it makes a huge difference to have doors on the cupboards.
Cracks in the walls
This crack goes all the way through the wall. You can see sunlight coming into the room though the crack.
Security concern!!
Because this guesthouse is all the way at the bottom of the property near the boundary wall, it has become the frequent target of thieves. They break most often in through this window. Somehow they are able to get through the burglar bars. They steal anything that can fit throught the bars – even matresses!
These bars need some attention. I suppose adding a vertical bar in the wide spaces would possibly keep the theives out. This would need to be done on all the windows around the house.
Tree about to crush the guesthouse
There is a flamboyant tree right in front of and to the left of the guesthouse that is got some dangerous rot in the trunk. It looks like it can fall over at any time. This tree needs to be cut down for the security of the structure. I just pray it doesn’t fall while we have guests in it.
