Huge Encouragement from our Home Church

We are so grateful for the HUGE encouragement we received from our home church last month. We received a care package from Tokai Community Church in September while we were down in Durban, South Africa for our church Synod.

This care package contained some chocolates, biltong, nuts, coffee, cards, and notes. A smile enveloped our hearts and we bounced about with a spring in our step. It kinda feels like we are walking on air! The love, encouragement, and prayers of those who gave has certainly lifted our spirits.

Huge Encouragement from Hand-written notes!

Wow! Wow! Wow! I cannot begin to describe the immense encouragement we have received from the many hand-written notes that was contained in this envelope.

There is something so special about a hand-written note. In a world where we process thousands of digital words on social media and emails it is such a pleasant and uplifting surprise to receive a message of encouragement written by hand on a small piece of paper.

These hand-written notes have been so encouraging to us that we have framed them so that we can see them regularly and be encouraged each day we walk past the many notes with encouraging messages.

Handwritten notes are such a blessing to us
We have framed the cards and notes and keep them where we can see them

Encouragement form Bible Verses

Many of these cards and notes included various verses from the Bible which were also a huge encouragement to us. Here are some the the verses:

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Matthew 7:12

my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
    my shield and the horn of my salvation.
He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—
    from violent people you save me.

“I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
    and have been saved from my enemies.
The waves of death swirled about me;
    the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
The cords of the grave coiled around me;
    the snares of death confronted me.

“In my distress I called to the Lord;
    I called out to my God.
From his temple he heard my voice;
    my cry came to his ears.

2 Samuel 22:3-7

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6

Above all else, guard your heart,
    for everything you do flows from it.

Proverbs 4:23

The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

Psalm 121

So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

My flesh and my heart may fail,
    but God is the strength of my heart
    and my portion forever.

Psalm 73:26

16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

Psalm 27

The law of the Lord is perfect,
    refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
    making wise the simple.

Psalm 19

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
