Most Exciting News Ever!
Greetings dear friends
Christ has risen! He has risen indeed!
We hope that you’ve had a blessed Easter weekend celebrating the remembrance of Christ’s death and glorious resurrection with family and friends. May the love and sacrifice of Jesus be treasured as we celebrate the risen Lord. Each moment of the life of Jesus had purpose. God had a plan for His Son, and God has a plan for each of us today.
“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”
Matthew 28:6
This month we have the most exciting news to share with you. It’s the kind of news that will change our lives drastically, but in the best way possible.
We are adopting! 🥳 🤩
No, this isn’t an April Fool’s joke and it isn’t a trick to get you to read further…
Yes, we are adopting an actual human baby, not another fur baby!
Those of you who know us well will know that this has been quite a journey for us. For many years we waited… We wanted to know God’s will for our lives in this matter and we were content to remain childless if that was how the Lord wanted to use us. It is obvious that adoption was founded in God’s heart but we just weren’t sure if it was His plan for us. We now feel that God has led us onto this path and we can see Him going before us as we take on the many challenges of trying to adopt while living in Zambia.
It’s still early days in the screening process but we will keep you updated as things develop. You can read more about our decision to adopt on our blog here
Women Exploring God's Word
What started out as a one-on-one discipleship meeting with a sister from church turned into so much more. A group of 5 eager women are now meeting once a week to work through the Explore Course together.
Every Wednesday I usually meet with Dyness and we read the bible together. One Wednesday I arrived there to find a second lady had joined her. The next week we were four. Before I knew it we were 6 women (including myself), meeting together over God’s Word. They were hungry and eager to learn and study the Bible so we started Book 1 of the Explore Course together. Because of their keenness and commitment we are already 4 chapters into the first book. It has been so exciting to see their dedication to grow in their understanding of God’s Word.
Journey of Discipleship
God has been using our one-on-one discipleship meetings to change lives and grow his church. Just last week when Michael was meeting with Paul Ngoma at the local Hungry Lion, an intrigued patron came closer and asked to join their discussion. It turned out that this gentleman was a Messianic Jew converted from Islam. His interest was piqued when he saw them praying and reading the Bible together around the table.
A few months ago a similar situation happened where a couple joined a discipleship meeting out of interest. Now they are part of the church and excitedly growing in their faith and understanding of God’s Word.
We should never underestimate God. He can use our obedience in the small seemingly insignificant things we do to make an impact in other people’s lives.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Apprentice Training
God has also graciously provided funds for Christ Church Lusaka to train two apprentices. This April we will be taking on our first full-time apprentice at Christ Church Lusaka. This is exciting and will really help the church in its growth. Paul Ngoma will be our first apprentice and he will be working side-by-side with Michael to learn all about ministry and church work. It is a big step for the church and a huge responsibility for Michael but we are so excited for this. We look forward to seeing Paul grow into a faithful minister of God’s Word, trained and equipped for every good work.
“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.“
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
