Entrusted with Spiritual Life

We have just come through an incredibly special and full month of May, and we’re so thankful for all God has done. From the conclusion of the Spiritual Life Conference (SLC), to a precious visit from my mom, to the successful completion of the Entrust Zambian Hub training—our hearts are full!

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians 3:17

Refreshed at the Spiritual Life Conference

After the SIM-Zambia SLC (Spiritual Life Conference), we returned home both challenged and refreshed. The inspiring messages from our guest speaker, Dr, Joshua Bokunjoko, resonated deeply in our hearts and stirred a renewed conviction about our calling here in Zambia. It was the perfect fuel for the two intense weeks that followed.

ENTRUST training on Mother's Day

From May 10th to 17th, the Entrust Zambian Hub training took place—an exciting and stretching week for me (Renee) as I handled final preparations and coordinated logistics on site in my new role as Southern Africa HUB Coordinator. It was the first time I stepped fully into this kind of responsibility and it definitely felt like a big (and a bit scary) moment. What made it even more special was that, for the first time in Zambia, we offered three different courses at once: Developing a Discerning Heart (DDH), Facilitating Relational Learning (FRL), and Discovery Bible Study (DBS). We had 39 participants and 16 amazing facilitators from all over.

Throughout the week, I was reminded to trust the Lord with my plans—especially when things didn’t go exactly as expected. Again and again, He proved faithful and made a way forward when I leaned on Him. By the end of the training, I knew I had found my place in this role. I absolutely loved the work and truly enjoyed every minute of it. I look forward to seeing how the Lord will use me in and through this ministry of Entrust.

Visit from Mom over Mother's Day

Adding to the joy, my mom arrived just in time to participate in the training—her first visit to Zambia and her first time meeting little Caleb! After hearing me talk so often about how life-changing the Entrust training had been, she decided to experience it for herself. What made her visit even more special was that it fell over Mother’s Day—my very first as a mom. It meant so much to celebrate that day with her here, honoring both her and the new season I’ve entered. It was such a joy to welcome her into our home and into this meaningful part of our ministry.

Daddy Duty and Prayerful Reflection

Because my mom was at the Entrust training with me, Michael and Caleb also joined us at the training venue and stayed for the entire week. While I was busy coordinating and supporting the teams, Michael cared for Caleb. This gave our family to spend some valuable time together during meal times and other gaps in the program.

We also took some precious time to seek the Lord’s guidance for our family’s next steps in ministry. Our time at the Ibis Gardens training venue became a quiet space for prayer and reflection for Michael particularly.

Significant Crossroad

We’ve now served at Christ Church Lusaka longer than our original 2-year commitment, and we find ourselves at a significant crossroad. SIM has asked us to consider moving on to Mongu to pursue our call to Western rural Zambia. At the same time, Christ Church Lusaka is asking us to stay and continue supporting the church’s growth and ministry. We’re praying for clarity: Is it time to begin wrapping things up in Lusaka and prepare for Mongu? Or is the Lord asking us to extend our season here?

As we complete this newsletter, we are in Mongu on another vision trip. Please pray with us that the Lord would continue to lead clearly and give us courage and wisdom to follow wherever He directs.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
Proverbs 16:3
